Navigating massive amounts of content has never been so entertaining, simple and effective
The Starz! network, one of the leading providers of major films on premium cable, was seeking alternative methods of delivery as a way to stand out from the competition. Their solution: Vongo, an all-in-one application where users can view, preview, download, manage, and watch all the movies available in the Starz! library, for a reasonable monthly fee.
Future-forward
Schematic was hired to create the Vongo interface and participate in back-end engineering. Because the Starz! network was making a significant step forward in digital movie distribution, we knew we had to come up with a striking, future-forward look and feel – and programming that would stand up to both intense media scrutiny and hordes of curious consumers.
Because Vongo offers a massive amount of content, a clean design and simple navigation was paramount. The interface is influenced heavily by navigational considerations, yet is still eye-popping and fun. We also created a unified program to maximize ease of use as well as a series of filtering options to streamline the process of choosing a film.
Success!
The Vongo project has been a considerable success for both Starz! and Schematic. It was nominated for an Emmy Award, has been received well by the tech press, and has positioned Starz! as a leader in the digital distribution of films.
